A Conversation with Simran Jeet Singh
Simran Jeet Singh, the Aspen Institute’s Executive Director of the Religion and Society Program and author of The Light We Give: How Sikh Wisdom Can Transform Your Life spoke about religious diversity and generosity as part of our Distinguished Visitor Series on December 6, 2023.
Singh, a well-known thought leader on issues of bias, empathy, and justice, will reflect on how religious diversity and generosity toward one another can promote a healthy civic society. In his role at Aspen Institute, Singh works across sectors, including corporate, educational and government contexts. He was named one of 16 people fighting for a more equal America in 2020 by TIME Magazine.
The event was presented in partnership between the Lake Institute on Faith and Giving (a part of the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy) and the Center for Interfaith Cooperation.
Sharing the stage with Singh as panelists for a discussion following his remarks will be:
- Melissa Borja, Assistant Professor of American Culture and Asian/Pacific Islander American Studies, University of Michigan
- Joseph L. Tucker Edmonds, Associate Professor of Religious Studies, Associate Professor of Africana Studies, Associate Director of the Center for the Study of Religion and American Culture, Indiana University Indianapolis
- David P. King, Karen Lake Buttrey Director of Lake Institute on Faith & Giving and Associate Professor of Philanthropic Studies, Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, Indiana University Indianapolis
