Why the Black Church
This report, authored by Robert M. Franklin and published by the Southern Education Foundation in 2005, offers a retrospective on the Philanthropy and the Black Church Project of the late twentieth century, which fostered research, built partnerships, and encouraged efforts at mutual understanding to bridge the gap between African American churches and organized institutions of philanthropy.
Some of the terms in the report (e.g., “inner-city”) are reflections of the time when this report was published and may no longer be preferred language. You can learn more about the Southern Education Foundation here.
